About Testamental Inheritance

In Exodus 19:3-8 Jehovah made a bi-lateral arrangement with Israel for them to inherit Rulership as Kings and Priests in the Heavenly Kingdom, as long as they obeyed Him and for God to finally inherit them and what they will have accomplished.

The Israel of the Exodus did not have to die at that time with the animals substituting for Israel, as one of the JW teachers understood an earlier comment of mine to mean.

For Israel to inherit the Heavenly Kingdom, and since flesh and blood can not do so, Israel had to die as a fleshly nation on earth.  In addition, they had completely lost their right to that inheritance by their persistent disobedience.

To save them, Jesus became Israel, retraced their steps from Egypt to the Jordan, became baptized for the forgiveness of their collective sins, followed by an exemplary life in their stead, finally dying a sacrificial death as he substituted for them in a final atonement and second Passover sacrifice.

JW teaching falsely has it that the mediator Moses had to die and that the animals were sacrificed instead:

from Insight on the Scriptures Volume 2 page 361 Mediator
For the validation of the Law covenant, the sacrifice used was that of animals—bulls and goats—these taking the place of Moses, the mediator. (Heb 9:19) For validating the new covenant, the sacrifice was the human life of Jesus Christ.—Lu 22:20; see NW appendix, p. 1584.

from w92 3/1 p. 31 Questions From Readers
Paul mentioned that a death was needed to validate covenants between God and humans. The Law covenant is an example. Moses was its mediator, the one to bring about this agreement between God and fleshly Israel. Moses thus played a crucial role and was the human who dealt with the Israelites when they were coming into the covenant. Moses could thus be viewed as the human covenanter of the Law covenant that originated with Jehovah. But did Moses have to shed his lifeblood for the Law covenant to come into force?  No. Instead animals were offered, their blood substituting for Moses’ blood.—Hebrews 9:18-22.

Alas Animals had to die as sacrifices to inaugurate this first Testament in signatory celebration, not to validate it:

Hebrews 9:17-18  For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is as yet of no strength, whilst the testator liveth.  18  Whereupon neither was the first indeed dedicated without blood.   Catholic Douay Version

What actually validated it was the death of Israel the testator of the first testament in and through Christ Jesus.

What is the inheritance and is there a need for a last will and testament?

The following verses from the NWT should assist my former associates to grasp matters from their own Bible.

Matthew 5:5 5 “Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.

(Matthew 5:10-12) 10 “Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them. 11 “Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake. 12 Rejoice and leap for joy, since your reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to you.

(Matthew 19:28-29) 28 Jesus said to them: “Truly I say to you, In the re-creation, when the Son of man sits down upon his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also yourselves sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone that has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive many times more and will inherit everlasting life.. . .

(Matthew 25:34) 34 “Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who have been blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom* prepared for you from the founding of the world.

(1 Thessalonians 2:12) to the end that you should go on walking worthily of God who is calling you to his kingdom and glory.

(Revelation 5:10) and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.

(1 Corinthians 6:9-10) 9 What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10 nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom..

(1 Corinthians 15:50) 50 However, this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom, neither does corruption inherit incorruption.

(Galatians 5:21) . . .As to these things I am forewarning you, the same way as I did forewarn you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

(Hebrews 1:14) 14 Are they not all spirits for public service, sent forth to minister for those who are going to inherit salvation?

(Hebrews 6:12) 12 in order that you may not become sluggish, but be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

(Romans 9:4) . . .Israelites, to whom belong the adoption as sons and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the sacred service and the promises;.

(Romans 15:8) 8 For I say that Christ actually became a minister of those who are circumcised in behalf of God’s truthfulness, so as to verify the promises He made to their forefathers,

(2 Corinthians 1:20-22) 20 For no matter how many the promises of God are, they have become Yes by means of him. Therefore also through him is the “Amen” [said] to God for glory through us. 21 But he who guarantees that you and we belong to Christ and he who has anointed us is God. 22 He has also put his seal upon us and has given us the token of what is to come, that is, the spirit, in our hearts.

(2 Peter 1:4) 4 Through these things he has freely given us the precious and very grand promises*, that through these you may become sharers in divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world through lust.

(Galatians 3:29) Moreover, if you belong to Christ, you are really Abraham’s seed, heirs with reference to a promise.

(1 Peter 1:3-4) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for according to his great mercy he gave us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance*. (John 14:2) In the house of my Father there are many abodes. Otherwise, I would have told you, because I am going my way to prepare a place for you.

(Ephesians 1:13-14) 13 But you also hoped in him after you heard the word of truth, the good news about your salvation. By means of him also, after you believed, you were sealed with the promised holy spirit, 14 which is a token in advance of our inheritance, for the purpose of releasing by a ransom [God’s] own possession, to his glorious praise.

(Colossians 1:5) because of the hope that is being reserved for you in the heavens. This [hope] you heard of before by the telling of the truth of that good news

(2 Timothy 4:8) From this time on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me as a reward in that day, yet not only to me, but also to all those who have loved his manifestation.

(Hebrews 3:1) 3 Consequently, holy brothers, partakers of the heavenly calling*,.

(1 Corinthians 1:9) God is faithful, by whom you were called into a sharing with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

(1 Thessalonians 2:12) to the end that you should go on walking worthily of God who is calling you to his kingdom and glory.

(2 Timothy 1:9) He saved us and called us with a holy calling, not by reason of our works, but by reason of his own purpose and undeserved kindness. This was given us in connection with Christ Jesus before times long lasting,

(Hebrews 12:22-23) 22 But you have approached a Mount Zion and a city of [the] living God, heavenly Jerusalem, and myriads of angels, 23 in general assembly, and the congregation of the firstborn who have been enrolled in the heavens,. . .

(Leviticus 16:17) . . .and in behalf of his house and in behalf of the entire congregation of Israel.

(Numbers 14:5) 5 At this Moses and Aaron fell upon their faces before all the congregation of the assembly of the sons of Israel.

(Deuteronomy 31:30) 30 And Moses proceeded to speak in the hearing of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song until their completion:

(Joshua 8:35) 35 There proved to be not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read aloud in front of all the congregation of Israel, together with the women and the little ones and the alien residents who walked in their midst. . .

(1 Kings 8:14) 14 Then the king turned his face and began to bless all the congregation of Israel, while all the congregation of Israel were standing up.

(1 Kings 8:22) 22 And Sol´o·mon began standing before the altar of Jehovah in front of all the congregation of Israel, and he now spread his palms out to the heavens;

That Congregation of Israel was purchased by Jesus.  It now belongs to him:

(Matthew 16:18) 18 Also, I say to you, you are Peter, and on this rock-mass I will build my congregation, and the gates of Ha´des will not overpower it.. . .

(Acts 20:28) . . ., to shepherd the congregation of God, which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son].

Others not literally of the natural descendants of Jacob/Israel, became true fleshly Israelites as they fully integrated with the remnant of believing Messiah-accepting Jews, which ensured that the nation of Israel, for whom Jesus had died, continued as a people of the promise.

They inherited the promises along with the debt of sin against their own undertaking of Exodus 19:8: . . .“All that Jehovah has spoken we are willing to do.”. . .  Once Christians accept this, all of the epistles, if not all the NT, assume the simple clarity and ease of understanding Jehovah had intended.

Israel never rejected

(Leviticus 26:44) 44 And yet for all this, while they continue in the land of their enemies, I shall certainly not reject them* nor abhor them so as to exterminate them, to violate my covenant with them; for I am Jehovah their God.

(Deuteronomy 4:31) For Jehovah your God is a merciful God. He will not desert you or bring you to ruin or forget the covenant of your forefathers that he swore to them.

(2 Kings 13:23) However, Jehovah showed them favor and had mercy upon them and turned to them for the sake of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; and he did not want to bring them to ruin, and he did not cast them away from before his face until now.

(Nehemiah 9:31) And in your abundant mercy you did not make an extermination of them or leave them; for you are a God gracious and merciful.

(Romans 11:2) God did not reject his people, whom he first recognized. Why, do you not know what the Scripture says in connection with E·li´jah, as he pleads with God against Israel?

(Jeremiah 31:35-37) 35 This is what Jehovah, the Giver of the sun for light by day, the statutes of the moon and the stars for light by night, the One stirring up the sea that its waves may become boisterous, the One whose name is Jehovah of armies, has said: 36 “‘If these regulations could be removed from before me,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘those who are the seed of Israel could likewise cease from proving to be a nation before me always.’”

37 This is what Jehovah has said: “‘If the heavens up above could be measured and the foundations of the earth below could be searched out, I myself also could reject the entire seed of Israel on account of all that they have done,’ is the utterance of Jehovah.”

(2 Chronicles 15:1-7) 15 Now for Az·a·ri´ah the son of O´ded, the spirit of God came to be upon him. 2 Consequently he went out before A´sa and said to him: . . . 7 “And you, be courageous and do not let your hands drop down, because there exists a reward for your* activity.”

About heirs and inheritance

(Hebrews 9:15) So that is why he is a mediator of a new covenant, in order that, because a death has occurred for [their] release by ransom from the transgressions under the former covenant, the ones who have been called might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance*.

* (Romans 8:17) 17 If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together.. . .

(Romans 9:4-5) 4 who, as such, are Israelites, to whom belong the adoption as sons and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the sacred service and the promises; 5 to whom the forefathers belong and from whom the Christ [sprang] according to the flesh: God, who is over all, [be] blessed forever. Amen.

(Romans 15:8) 8 For I say that Christ actually became a minister of those who are circumcised in behalf of God’s truthfulness, so as to verify the promises He made to their forefathers,

(2 Corinthians 1:19-20) . . ., Christ Jesus, who was preached among you through us, that is, through me and Sil·va´nus and Timothy, did not become Yes and yet No, but Yes has become Yes in his case. 20 For no matter how many the promises of God are, they have become Yes by means of him. . .

(2 Corinthians 6:17-7:1) . . .” 18 “‘And I shall be a father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me,’ says Jehovah the Almighty.” 7 Therefore, since we have these promises, beloved ones, let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in God’s fear.

(Galatians 3:16) 16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. It says, not: “And to seeds,” as in the case of many such, but as in the case of one: “And to your seed,” who is Christ.. . .

(Hebrews 8:6) 6 But now [Jesus] has obtained a more excellent public service, so that he is also the mediator of a correspondingly better covenant, which has been legally established upon better promises.. . .

(2 Peter 1:2-4) 2 May undeserved kindness and peace be increased to you by an accurate knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 forasmuch as his divine power has given us freely all the things that concern life and godly devotion, through the accurate knowledge of the one who called us through glory and virtue. 4 Through these things he has freely given us the precious and very grand promises*, that through these you may become sharers in divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world through lust.

(Luke 22:30) that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

(John 14:2) In the house of my Father there are many abodes. Otherwise, I would have told you, because I am going my way to prepare a place for you.

(Galatians 3:29) Moreover, if you belong to Christ, you are really Abraham’s seed, heirs with reference to a promise.

(Romans 8:16-17) . . .. 17 If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together. . .

(Galatians 3:26-29) 26 you are all, in fact, sons of God through your faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor freeman, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one [person] in union with Christ Jesus. 29 Moreover, if you belong to Christ, you are really Abraham’s seed, heirs with reference to a promise.

(Ephesians 1:9-11) . . .It is according to his good pleasure which he purposed in himself 10 for an administration at the full limit of the appointed times, namely, to gather all things together again in the Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth. [Yes,] in him, 11 in union with whom we were also assigned as heirs, in that we were foreordained according to the purpose of him who operates all things according to the way his will counsels,. . .

(Ephesians 3:4-6) 4 In the face of this you, when you read this, can realize the comprehension I have in the sacred secret of the Christ. 5 In other generations this [secret] was not made known to the sons of men as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by spirit, 6 namely, that people of the nations should be joint heirs and fellow members of the body and partakers with us of the promise in union with Christ Jesus through the good news. . .

(Titus 3:6-7) 6 This [spirit] he poured out richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that, after being declared righteous by virtue of the undeserved kindness of that one, we might become heirs according to a hope of everlasting life. . .

(Hebrews 6:16-20) . . .. 17 In this manner God, when he purposed to demonstrate more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of his counsel, stepped in with an oath, 18 in order that, through two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to the refuge may have strong encouragement to lay hold on the hope set before us. 19 This [hope] we have as an anchor for the soul, both sure and firm, and it enters in within the curtain, 20 where a forerunner has entered in our behalf, Jesus, who has become a high priest according to the manner of Mel·chiz´e·dek forever. . .

(James 2:5) 5 Listen, my beloved brothers. God chose the ones who are poor respecting the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he promised to those who love him, did he not?

(1 Peter 3:7) 7 you husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since you are also heirs with them of the undeserved favor of life, in order for your prayers not to be hindered.

(1 Peter 1:4) to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance. It is reserved in the heavens for you,*

It is the Israel of the promise alright, who shall reside in heaven as the Kingdom of God,  but not entirely made up of descendants of Jacob, because as Paul said in one place:

But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, (Romans 9:6) NKJV

and in another:

What then? That which Israel is seeking for, it has not obtained,
 but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;
 (Romans 11:7) NAS

and confirmed by him, under inspiration of course, in Galatians 3:28, 29, as it is indeed throughout the entire Scriptures:

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male
 nor female; for
you are all one in Christ Jesus.  29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:28, 29) NKJV
