In defence of the sidelined God Jehovah, Creator of the Universe and Father of Humanity
Definition of Israel in the biblical context and that of this site:
The flock of Jacob, Israel, entrusted with the complete fulfilment of the Abrahamic Promises, granted Repentance by God, then complete Redemption, Acquittal and Salvation through their final Atonement and second Passover Lamb Jesus, who thus fulfilled the final two requirements of the Law:
1. To die in place of Jehovah's firstborn son (Exodus 4:22) to save him from their complete annihilation for transgressing the Law.
2. To be executed in place of the adulterous wife Israel, who was in this manner
stoned to death and crushed by the stone of stumbling & corner-stone - Christ Jesus.
The temporary life course of Israel covers one single epoch or age that stretches from the first Kingdom Covenant between God/Yahweh/Jehovah/G-d and His firstborn son (2. Moses/Ex. 4:22), as documented in Exodus 19:3-8, until the handover at the end of Jehovah's earth-related rest day, the seventh day of Creation - 1 Corinthians 15:24-28, at which point the people Israel, real or virtual, will cease to exist, since the reason for their temporary existence as a distinct, separate people comprising the Seed of Abraham assigned to become a blessing to all the families of the earth past, present and future will have been fully realized.
This Firstborn Son age is itself punctuated by two Kingdom Covenant testamental ages:
1. OT-Epoch from Exodus 19:3-8 until death of Messiah*, which has a separate wife
from the law covenant of Exodus 24 (the household rules) to the divorce, via the destruction of
God's temple presence by Babylon, the Exile and the removal of the Ark of the covenant.
2. NT-Epoch from Jesus' death* until the handover at job well done at the end of
creative day 7 (God’s earth-related rest day), itself punctuated from the death
of the Messiah until the little flock
of the Israel of God of called ones are gathered by the Christ and installed in governance
as the Kingdom of God for the 1000 years - 1 Corinthians 15:24-28; Luke 12:32; Matt 24:29-31
* The start of John the Baptist's preaching was the actual hope-interface between the two testaments.
The democratic nation currently in the Middle East known as Israel and member of the United Nations is just that: part of the nations*.
Their special place with God had periodically ended as outlined above, but for any individual descendent of Jacob as well as Gentile proselytes in the wider Diaspora, including that Israel in the Middle East, the door is still wide open for access to inherit a place in the Israel of the promise and thus become a part of the inheritance of God (Romans 11:23-24).
They need not do anything or join a group -there were none to join now after the commencement of the Great Tribulation by Rome in 66-70- as long as they appreciate their role and follow some of the guidelines in the NT, which, in any case, is an entirely personal, private matter, while they may already be or yet become a part of one of the many organisations rooted in the original bride of Christ without fear of penalties.
* Note Jesus' words, spoken to Jews while they were still under the Mosaic Law, about
one of their
Jewish brothers who was to be treated just like one of the nations, if certain sins could not be sorted
- Matthew 18:15-17
The Biblical pictures and representations of the continuum
of Jehovah's precious inheritance: Israel.
In the attached Israel docs -via the navigation bar sub menus- I have detailed compelling evidence in support of Israel's continuance in the flesh from the preaching of John the Baptist until the heavenly Christ gathers them to their heavenly places of governance by means of the angels whereupon they continue in a virtual state until the hand-over at the end of their representative rule in the 1000 year Kingdom of God.
All that ever happened to Israel must be seen within the fundamental context of Leviticus 26:44; Deuteronomy 27:1-30:20; Jeremiah 31:35-37, 33:24-26; Romans 11:1-26, which absolutely guarantees that the flock of Jacob, Israel, had not nor shall ever be rejected as Jehovah's chosen flock for a purpose, until the fulfillment of the promises.
To demonstrate this, we are going to explore these aliases of the Israel of God via the Menu:
Firstborn Son, Repentance, Redemption, Wife, Inheritance, Servant, Vineyard, World, Kingdom, Ransomed, Light, Decoration, Flock, Olive Tree, Splitting MT of Olives, Sons of Disobedience, Rejected?, Salvation, Repurchase, an earlier Salvation Essay, Birth of a Nation, Israel's Choices, What Sins?
Due to the nature of the information, repetitions and overlaps are frequently unavoidable for greater clarity. My lack of consummate skills would likewise be a contributing factor.
In Exodus Jehovah clearly laid out the method for Israel's success in this verse:
(Exodus 23:20-21) 20 “Here I am sending an angel ahead of you* to keep you on the
road and to bring you into the place that I have prepared. 21 Watch yourself because
of him and obey his voice. Do not behave rebelliously against him, for he will not
pardon your transgression; because my name is within him.
* Capitalized to indicate plural.
After having made that connection myself from the Scriptures, I noted that Jehovah's Witnesses have stated on a number of occasions in their literature that this angel may have been Jehovah's only begotten god/son the Archangel Michael. This was certainly very intuitive in that it falls very much in line with many of Jesus' expressions to the effect that the sheep, who are now his, will follow him wherever he goes:
(John 10:27-28) 27 My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 And I give them everlasting life, and they will by no means ever be destroyed, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.. . .
So, that Angel was going to lead Jehovah's inheritance, His special possession, His people all the way from the Exodus to that mountain in Heaven Jehovah had prepared for them and will complete his assignment successfully.
A little Israel Overview,
On the basis of God's original purpose and His remedial intent at Genesis 3:15 after Adam's sin, He initiated a number of steps along the way towards a complete resolution, the more definitive one being the promises to Abraham for all the families of the earth to be blessed or bless themselves* by means of his seed.
* both Hebrew forms of the verb to bless were used in the promises to Abraham
The baton of the promises was subsequently handed on to Israel at the nation's founding in Exodus 19: 3-9 when Jehovah concluded the original, first covenant for a kingdom with them.
Israel was to run with these promises to Messiah and on to being seated in the kingdom of the heavens in order to finally bless all of mankind willing to yield to God’s sovereignty.
1. Israel's nationhood was defined by the Law it was given to her as a constitution.
2. The Law was episodal.
3. The attendant promises of the kingdom covenant (Ex 19:3-8) continued.
4. The Law defined sin for His firstborn son and beloved wife Israel within God's household.
5. Israel was guarded, or held prisoner, under the custody of the Law, which enslaved Israel into servitude at MT Sinai pictured by Hagar, until Messiah - Galatians 4:21-26.
6. Israel could not inherit, or become, the kingdom of the heavens because:
a) Israel's disobedience of the law covenant held it to ransom.
b) Israel also had to die and be born again as spirit sons in order for them to inherit the heavenly promises, since flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom. 1 Corinthians 15:50 see also the inspired words of Caiaphas (John 11:49-53)
7. Israel died through, by means of or rather in Jesus: The Lamb that was to take
away the sin of the world, (the Israelite World, since the first Passover lamb belonged
exclusively to Israel, so it must indeed be in the fulfilment, the sin also exclusively
Jesus becoming a curse instead of us (Israel) - Please see here.
8. Israel was thus also ransomed from the death as a people for transgressing the Law.
9. When Israel died through the Lamb, their original, old testament covenant of Exodus 19:3-8 was validated and their new testamental covenant inaugurated.
10. A new testamental covenant can only designated new if it was made with the same people the old one was made.
11. Anointed Israel, joined by other sheep sourced from diverse ethnicities to complement it, remained the original Israel with reference to God's purpose, name and promises.
This has also profound implications on the nature of man, sin, ransom and Jesus, as the JWs and other sections of Christendom currently perceive it. The founder of the Bible Students Taze Russell stated a century ago that a ransom price paid can never be taken back. What does that say about Jesus being in heaven, when he was actually sacrificed?
Therefore, please contemplate the depth and magnificence of Jehovah's ransom sacrifice through the shadow drama of Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac and its reality.
Jehovah is pictured by Abraham.
God's only begotten son is pictured by Isaac.
Jesus, the sacrificed human being/lamb (son of man) is pictured by the sheep.
A whole lot of detail can be had, but not really necessary if the overall picture is understood and maintained while reading the Bible, especially the New Testament, but more specifically Luke 1, 2; John 10, 11; Romans 1-8, 11; Ephesians 1-3; Colossians 1-4; Hebrews 9 and 1 Peter, while paying particular attention to all the inclusively exclusive plural personal pronouns used in the epistles.
Please make the effort to understand that!
Had a number of discussions and disagreements with the appointed Leaders/Elders guiding the teaching work of Jehovah's Witnesses over the keeping the covenant in force for Israel, your People, as the Angel termed those to whom the prophecy of the 70 weeks applies until the end of the 70 weeks period.
The Watchtower data CD, only generally available to members (or rather active and acceptable participants, since there are no members as such) of the greater congregation, has a very clever search facility where searching for a bible verse not only reveals how many times and where any one verse is used in any publication, but also and especially where in the New World Translation it is cross-referenced to (or located in marginal references, as the translators termed it).
What makes that so very interesting is hat it exposes, in a most positive sense, the very acute spiritual mind set of the NWT translators, who, being or considering themselves to be of that band of anointed saints ostensibly destined for heavenly rulership alongside the Christ*, have had a very special spiritual appreciation of the mind of God and a sense of what His word seemed to indicate about Israel and their future in His purpose.
* -ostensibly, because I shall not here take sides with or oppose anyone, since only
God knows who will or
won't out of all those who consider themselves Christian or anointed for that privilege
Bible cross-references commonly run parallel with the doctrinal mind-set of the translator, even as frequently does the translation itself, if the original languages or the sponsors allow it.
That's OK, I have no beef with that.
Many of the New World Translation doctrine-related cross-references are nonetheless very spiritually intuitive, save for a minority, where the collective understanding of their time had prevailed over the expressed mind of God. That's OK too.
Sent the following in a letter to the WTB&TS N.Y. some time before my shunning.
At that time I still wrote from a perspective of affiliation.
Plural personal pronouns used by the prophets, Paul, John, Peter and others are addressed only to the Israel the writers were a part of. - more here
(Isaiah 53:3-6) 3 He was despised and was avoided by men, a man meant for pains and for having acquaintance with sickness. And there was as if the concealing of one’s face from us. He was despised, and we held him as of no account. 4 Truly our sicknesses were what he himself carried; and as for our pains, he bore them. But we ourselves accounted him as plagued, stricken by God and afflicted. 5 But he was being pierced for our transgression; he was being crushed for our errors. The chastisement meant for our peace was upon him, and because of his wounds there has been a healing for us. 6 Like sheep we have all of us wandered about; it was each one to his own way that we have turned; and Jehovah himself has caused the error of us all to meet up with that one.
How can anyone even dare to apply that to mankind in general? Christendom does! Why do we, when every other we, our us you and your is addressed to the nation within and for whom these words were written, namely the fleshly nation of Israel, Jehovah's special people?
Note how verse 6 above: 6 Like sheep we have all of us wandered about; it was each one to his own way that we have turned; and Jehovah himself has caused the error of us all to meet up with that one. ties in perfectly with Jesus' assignment: 24 In answer he said: “I was not sent forth to any but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew 15:24) and his instructions to his disciples: 5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, giving them these orders: “Do not go off into the road of the nations, and do not enter into a Sa·mar´i·tan city; 6 but, instead, go continually to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.. . . (Matthew 10:5-6)
(Yes! Jesus was sent only and exclusively to the Israelite fold.)
and the inspired advice of Caiaphas, (whom we condemn in a recent WT): 49 But a certain one of them, Ca´ia·phas, who was high priest that year, said to them: “you do not know anything at all, 50 and you do not reason out that it is to your benefit for one man to die in behalf of the people and not for the whole nation to be destroyed.” 51 This, though, he did not say of his own originality; but because he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was destined to die for the nation, 52 and not for the nation only, but in order that the children of God who are scattered about he might also gather together in one. 53 Therefore from that day on they took counsel to kill him. (John 11:49-53)
and the inspired words of the apostle Paul in Romans 15:8: For I say that Christ actually became a minister of those who are circumcised in behalf of God’s truthfulness, so as to verify the promises He made to their forefathers. . . and in Romans 4:25 25 He was delivered up for the sake of our trespasses* and was raised up for the sake of declaring us righteous.
*Marginals Rbi8 Romans 4:25 to Isaiah 53:12: For that reason I shall deal him a portion among the many, and it will be with the mighty ones that he will apportion the spoil, due to the fact that he poured out his soul to the very death, and it was with the transgressors that he was counted in; and he himself carried the very sin of many people, and for the transgressors he proceeded to interpose.
also: 21 The one who did not know sin he made to be sin for us,. (2 Corinthians 5:21).
To understand these simple truths will never be too difficult for those humble enough to want to do just so.
Since all has already been said in scripture . . .
