Rejected Stone that crushes!
Matthew 21:42-44 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures: ‘The
stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s
doing, and it is amazing in our eyes’? 43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God*
will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces the fruits of the
kingdom. 44 The one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and it will
crush anyone on whom it falls." nrsv
* the vineyard Israel -see Isaiah 5:1-7
Mark 12:9-11 "Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vinedressers, and give the vineyard to others. 10 "Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. 11 This was the LORD’S doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes’?" NKJV
Luke 20:16-18 "He will come and destroy those vinedressers and give the vineyard to others." And when they heard it they said, "Certainly not!" 17 Then He looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone’? 18 "Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." NKJV
Acts 4:8-12 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9 "If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10 "let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 "This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." NKJV
Ephesians 2:19-22 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. NKJV
1 Peter 2:4-8 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame." 7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone," 8 and "A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense." They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. NKJV
1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. NKJV
All these quotation by Jesus, Paul and Peter have their source in Psalm 118:22: The stone which the builders rejected Is become the head of the corner.
One of the most ignored Hebrew definition of this stone that the builders rejected, is plummet as a means to measure and check the integrity of the structure Israel.
In the Holy Scriptures Jerusalem and the Temple is Israel representatively even as Washington and the Capitaol is the United States of America.
The Messiah came not to destroy Israel, but to measure it and save it, so they could keep on running with the promises:
Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers,
John 3:17 "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world* , but that the world* through Him might be saved.
* Strong's 2889 Gr. kosmos people of a particular group or arrangement, which in the context of where Jesus was and why, simply means Israel.
Israel's even more profound definition was as her owner's adornment, even as wives can be the crowning glory of their husbands.
Measuring Israel's structure of integrity did not have to wait until Messiah, for they were continually monitored and measured by means of the Law Moses had mediated at Sinai.
After their divorce from God and the destruction by Babylon, Israel's former husbandly Owner Jehovah indicated by means of the prophet Ezekiel that a further assessment was required this time via Messiah who came not to judge but to save the kosmos of Israel if a sufficient number were to respond positively by putting faith in Jesus, their final Atonement and second Passover lamb until the special exclusive period of grace ended at the end of the 70th week of Daniel' prophecy when the first Gentile Cornelius was anointed and thus became a Christian or anointed one.
He was the first of a number of Gentiles chosen by God to complement a faithful remnant of natural Israelites for a future adoption into the Israel of God comprising the pre-destined number of the little flock chosen for heavenly governance to become the ultimate blessing to all families of the earth as the seed of Abraham, as indicated by the apostle Paul in 16:
Romans 11:26 In this way Israel as a whole will be saved, as Scripture says, "The Savior will come from Zion. He will remove godlessness from Jacob. 27 My promise to them will be fulfilled when I take away their sins." gwv
This is where the quote originates:
Isaiah 28:16: therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner–stone of sure foundation: he that believeth shall not be in haste. 17 And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding–place. asv
